Material Safety Data Sheets are used by the chemical suppliers to provide their customers with information about the properties and risks of the chemicals and how to transport, store and handle them safely. MSDS include information also about first-aid, fire-fighting and exposure control measures.
The manufacturer of the chemicals and those importing them to the European Union are responsible for preparing a Material Safety Data Sheet. The MSDS needs to be provided on the day the chemical is delivered to the recipient for the first time and when the MSDS is updated with new hazard or risk management measure information.
